ABC's of futures and forex trading
Futures markets in concept have been around for thousands of years in one form or another, but it wasn't until the mid-1800s that they were officially born as centralized, regulated marketplaces. The forex market for individual traders is much more recent.
Though these markets have been somewhat misunderstood by the investment community, their use has grown rapidly, and today they are part of many a knowledgeable investors' more traditional diversified portfolio.
Gone are the days where stocks and bonds are the only portfolio mainstays. The incorporation within portfolios of futures on energy, foreign exchange, equity indices, metals, traditional commodities, and interest rates are commonplace rather than an exception.
If you're among the growing group of investors who want to learn more about the futures, forex, options and cash commodity market, Zaner's educational offerings and link to other resources will be a good start. They aren't intended to answer all questions, but will give you a basis on which you can build your trading IQ.
